Be Longing is a project which started in Colombia and evolved during two years of travel thru out seven countries. It was presented as part of an exhibition for women artists who travel in New York, as an online photo essay for Nowhere Magazine and as an artist book.
Intrigued by the infinite variations on how to approach space. Of perceiving and connecting with it. By examining belonging as an intrinsic sensation as well as a global strife. Hoping to reach a cross point between the two.
Gathering fragments of recognition.
Reconstructing glimpses of recall.
Though approaching a sensation is somehow like chasing a ghost. Or to reawaken the vague memory of a dream. Its importance therefor often lies hidden in the gap between the words or outside of the image. Espacially since the very notion of belonging is defined thru the absence of its opposite. Where the word itself contains its duality.
TO BELONG or TO BE LONGING or yet again LONGING TO BE. Which after all might be three ever shifting versions of the same sensation.
